Set up a Mail Account on BlackBerry
This document explains how to set up a mail account on a BlackBerry mobile. The process to configure an email account mentioned in this document is tested on BlackBerry Curve handset. It may vary slightly according to your handset or mobile network provider.
Setting up a mail account on BlackBerry is an easy process. To set up your BlackBerry with your email, you need to know your POP or IMAP Email Server Settings and ports. Keep these details handy before you start the configuration.
To Set up an email account on BlackBerry:
1. From Main Screen or Home Menu and tap Setup.
2. Tap Email Settings on Setup screen.
3. Tap Add on Email Accounts screen.
4. Tap Other on Email Setup screen.
5. On Email Setup screen,
- Enter your complete email address in Email address box
- For example: "j.bloggs@acmecorp.co.in"
- Enter password for your email account in Password box
- Note: If the option mentioned in Step 6 is not present on your mobile then execute following steps otherwise go to Step 6.
- Tap OK
- Your BlackBerry device creates your email account on your mobile.
- Select your account and then select the Edit option.
- In Advance Options, enter name or IP address of Connect Xf mail server.
- For example, 122.182.22.65, mail.ISPname.com.
- Tap Save.
- Provide the password for validation.
- Now, you can use your email account.
6. If your BlackBerry device can't determine the appropriate server settings, scroll down and select I will provide the settings to add this email account and click Next.
Note: If this option is not present on your mobile, follow the sub-steps mentioned in step 5.
7. Select the type of your email account and click Next.
8. Select I will provide the settings to add this email account and click Next.
9. On Internet Service Provider screen,
- Enter User name.
- User name should be the portion of the email address before the "@" symbol.
- For example, "j.bloggs" in the address "j.bloggs@acmecorp.co.in".
- In the Email server box, enter IP address of Connect Xf server or name of the Mail Server. For example, 122.182.22.65, mail.ISPname.com. Then tap Next.
If the information entered is correct, then specified email account is added to your mobile phone. After successful configuration of your account, a new envelope icon is placed on main screen of your mobile which allows you to use your e-mail account.
